A truly unique, intimate & secret wedding venue in Scotland.
St Mary's converted church home in the West Scottish Highlands is a hidden destination venue with bespoke cabin for creative & adventurous couples to elope & escape.
"St Mary's Space is eclectic, charming, unique and welcoming, we fell in love with it from day one. It will forever be in our hearts. I want everybody to get married here."
About our venue...
Slumbered in the arms of a quiet Scottish Highland Glen, surrounded by towering mountains, enchanted woods and light dancing on the water, St. Mary's is the perfect sanctuary for a small home from home wedding.
We're so proud to share our uniquely converted church home with you (also a recording studio) to offer unconventional and intimate elopement ceremonies for gatherings of up to 15 guests. We're all about slowing things down with that home from home feeling, offering you the perfect place to share your vows, unwind, embrace, unite your love and celebrate.
The wedding traditions of Scotland run deep: take joy in having your feet washed in river Creran, a bagpiper in full highland dress play you in or hold an ancient Celtic hand-fasting ceremony under the trees. Or bring your own unique imagination to life - each elopement can be tailored to your every wish; no idea will be too large, no whim too far-fetched.
Celebrate and indulge in Scotland's amazing larder; wild venison, highland beef, oysters from Loch Creran and so much more prepared passionately for you in-house. Enjoy fanciful homespun cocktails before winding up your perfect day with a carefree ceilidh, or cuddle up together and wrap up in a wool blanket with a Baileys hot chocolate and chat under the big skies until the stars come out.
We encourage you to totally disconnect during your time here with a short stay in The Sitooterie, your own rustic, cosy wooden cabin with log burner, gas hob to cook on, no TV, no WiFi, a mezzanine sleeping area accessed by a ladder and nature enveloping you. This is the perfect base for adventurous eloping couples, no stress & no interruptions, just wild swimming, hiking and exploring on the doorstep.
Here in this wild corner of Scotland it really is the ideal place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with what really matters.
Experience moments of magic at St Mary's to cherish forever.
Escape the ordinary
We're husband and wife team; Charlotte and Jamie, artist and musician, best of friends and inseparable companions. We welcome you with open arms into our lovingly curated home, our ethos is to make you feel so relaxed that you won't want to leave.
We moved to wild and rural Scotland with babe in arms, driven by a passion to be more self sufficient, live slowly and simply at one with nature, to forage and reduce our carbon footprint. Settling here in 2011 we poured our hearts and souls into tenderly transforming this beautiful historic building into our charming family home and hope you will love it as much as we do.
In our small way we try to make St Mary's as ‘green’ as possible by coppicing our woodland to fuel all four wood burning stoves, growing our own fruit and vegetables, foraging locally for wild food, and planting wild flowers which boost the biodiversity of the woodlands encouraging more wildlife into our garden.
We're always looking at innovative ways to be more resourceful, to recycle, upcycle and to cut down packaging and waste. Our fresh water supply from the hill tastes so pure and there's no plastic bottles in sight! And our new bespoke 'Sitooterie' has been astutely built during lockdown using vintage, squirelled away, local and discarded materials. It's 'one of a kind' and super cute...kind of like us...when we were younger!
"No words would be enough to describe this place and the people who own it to the full potential and energy they have.
We had our beautiful, intimate wedding here on 5.12.2020.
Through a pandemic, cancellation of accommodation, guests pulling out and it being a million miles from where we live...it all came together, like a magical fairy tale because of Charlotte and Jamie.
St Mary's Space is eclectic, charming, unique and welcoming, we fell in love with it from day one. It will forever be in our hearts.
Jamie's food was outstanding and not one complaint was made...only relish and content.
Oysters were requested, not only did they provide local, sweet beautiful ones. but we also got a hand painted shell as a gift (wow).
Charlotte could not do enough to help and even calmed my nerves before we wed.
I want everybody to get married here.
We could never thank you enough and wish every bit of success to your beautiful home and family x"
"I just wanted to take the time to thank you and Jamie for allowing us to use your space for our wedding. Although we had a rough start to our day yesterday it still ended up being a wonder and special day for us and that is due to you and Jamie. Your home and space was the perfect place for Fergus and I to start our new life together and everything we could have imagined it to be. It will forever be a day we will never forget and cherish for the rest of our lives. Now it being the next day, I wish I could just go back to yesterday and relive it all because it went by so fast. Thank you again for everything."
"Amazing GEM and incredible hosts. Would recommend this place in a heart beat."
We married in a tiny intimate ceremony at St Mary's Space in June. What a wonderful experience start to finish. Charlotte and Jamie are such warm, welcoming & creative people. St Mary's as a venue is eclectic, unique & beautiful. Amazingly decorated & warm. The food made by Jamie was incredible, one of those meals you'll think about for years to come! We also had the pleasure of staying in the cabin on site (@stmaryssitooterie on Instagram) and it was delightful! Private and cosy, I could have stayed there forever. We truly had the most magical time at St Mary's Space & would highly recommend it to any couple looking for an intimate & relaxed wedding. Thank you again, Charlotte & Jamie for opening your home to us. We will remember our time at St Mary's Space forever.
